Radio recorded its second biggest live audience ever, with 90% of the adult population tuning into radio every week! Moreover, audiences are tuning in for 21.5 hours of live radio each week. Starting with the national stats and Global keep the crown for the most listened to network nationally. The Capital Network remains the nation's favourite, down on quarter but up year on year.
Kiss celebrated their breakfast show's successes, they are now not only the nation's favourite commercial breakfast show but are London's most popular choice with 983,000 listeners in the capital city.
However, LBC's Nick Ferrari takes the number one spot in London for breakfast listening share.
Christian O'Connell's Breakfast Show on Absolute Radio was also a breakfast success, posting record reach with 2 million listeners across the network.
Frustratingly, not all stations were singing a success story, Heart FM dropped 442,000 listeners in London in the past 12 months.
The Wireless Group's new offerings reported mixed gains and losss. Virgin Radio and talkRADIO both show losses on the quarter whilst talkSPORT2 has increased reach in its second set of figures.
The digital radio brands are continuing to shine with Bauer brands leading the way. Absolute 80's is still the firm favourite, a reach of 1.6 million makes it the number 1 commercial digital station.
Kiss's old skool and anthems brand Kisstory follows closely with 1.4 million listeners.
Mellow Magic and Magic Chilled reach 3.6 million listeners.
One final success to note, Smooth Extra posted impressive growth in listening hours. They are up 34.5% quarter on quarter to 7.4 hours, clearly the listeners are loving what they hear!
